Pigments

One ingredient  in paint is pigment. The form of pigments are granular solids. Pigment is used in solid paint color. Meanwhile, in the clear very little use. Determination of pigment to solid color paint will largely determine the final outcome of paint. The use of pigment also determine the function of paint. Whether functioning as a putty or as a primer/base coat.

Pigment based functions are divided into

1. Extender pigment

Function of pigment extender only as a paint filler. Usually used on wooden putty or wood filler. There are several types of special extender pigment serves to facilitate the sanding that is used in transparent paint. Not all pigment extender can be used in a transparent paint. If you use too much will affect the clarity of transparent paint. Because of that, very limited to use pigment extender in the paint transparent.

2. Colored pigments

Colored pigments used to give color to the paint. Colored pigments of the material there are different kinds can an organic or organic. Pigment is also the form of granules or solids. So it can not directly be added into the paint. To be added to the paint must be in the form of solutions or so called pasta. Pasta is sold in the market.

When classified where pigments come from, Pigments can be classified as either natural or synthetic types.
